Doctrinal Statement

We believe in The Only Holy Scripture – The Holy Bible:  The Old and New Testaments (39 books O.T. & 27 N.T. total 66 Books) in their original autographs, are the complete, inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). The Scriptures are inspired verbally (each individual word) (Proverbs 30:5; Matthew 5:18) and plenary (all Scripture in total) (2 Timothy 3:16). The Scriptures are God-breathed as the Holy Spirit moved godly men who accurately recorded the message (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21). We do not have any original manuscripts, but we believe that we have a preserved “Word of God” in the multiplicity of manuscripts from which we have compiled Hebrew and Greek texts of the Old & New Testaments. Furthermore, we have excellent and very accurate “translations” of these texts into our English Bible Versions. We primarily use the King James (KJV) or Authorized Version (AV), but we are not a divisive “KJV-Only church.” The King James Bible translators said that by necessity translation work must progressively continue in order for the Scriptures to be read in the language of the common people. There are good translations and there are bad translations. In teaching and preaching we try to faithfully point these various versions out for what they are.

We believe in The One True God – Jehovah:  (A) The Trinity - There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5-6), the Creator of the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). He eternally exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8; 48:16; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 3:16; 28:19-20). The three persons of the Trinity exist as a unity: coequal in essence, but distinct in function. The attributes of God can be categorized as non-moral and moral. Non-moral attributes include omniscience (Psalm 139:1-4), omnipresence (Psalm 139:7-12), omnipotence (Job 42:2; Jeremiah 32:17), and immutability (Hebrews 1:12; 13:8; James 1:17; Malachi 3:6). Additionally, God possesses numerous moral attributes including holiness (Psalm 30:4; 47:8; 60:6; 89:35), righteousness and justice (Psalm 89:14; Romans 3:26), love (1 John 4:8, 16), mercy and loving-kindness (1 Peter 1:3), and faithfulness (1 Thessalonians 5:24; 1 Corinthians 1:9; 10:13; 2 Timothy 2:13).

ADDITIONAL NOTE:  Our Doctrinal Statement or Articles of Faith are being revised and refined according to "sound doctrinal teaching" and guidelines recommended to the function of a local Bible-believing, New Testament Christian Church. The Holy Scripture is our final authority for faith and practice; therefore all actual members of Brookhill Baptist Church must be in agreement with and follow appropriate life principles, precepts and commands given in the Word of God in order to be a "member in good standing" and thus able to vote on matters of church business. A detailed copy of the current "Statement of Faith" or "Articles of Faith" can be requested and received at any time. The finalized revision of the Statement of Faith will be reviewed and voted on at a future church business meeting yet to be determined.
