Our History

Brookhill

1922-1926 People in neighborhood felt need of a church.  They met and made plans to have church.

1922 Tent used for Sunday School and preaching.

6-8-23 Deed recorded.

10-30-26 Church completed and dedicated named Brookhill Community Church.  Special thanks was given to Cleveland Ferguson for his faithful, cheerful service he rendered.  Land for church was donated by Will S. Hurt

3-29-40 Deed for cemetery.

8-47 First Wedding Nadine Kelly and Wiley McGuire

1949 Wing added to church.

1965 Aubrey Dooley first full time pastor.

1971 Bus ministry started.

1971 Addition to building.-Sunday School rooms and children's chruch.

1973 Plans made to change name from Brookhill Community Church to Brookhill Baptist Church.

6-19-76 First baptismal service.

1977 First Easter outdoor drama.

1978 Farwell to Pastor Dooley

1978 Pastor Bill Cato welcomed

3-79 Brookhill Baptist Chruch name- change completed.

1980 First Mother-Daughter banquet

1984 Pastor Cato called to Bradenton FL

1985 Pastor Wilmar Wegner called from Williamson WV.

9-86 Robert D. and Ruth Bandy gave land to church for additional parking in anticipation of building new sanctuary.

10-1-86 Members voted to build new sanctuary.

3-29-87 Ground broken for new sanctuary.

10-87 Dedication of new sanctuary facilities.

1988 First Neighborhood Bible Time.
